Working in partnership with the Association of Colleges and with funding support from the Blagrave Trust, Unloc aims to support, train, raise the profile of and empower student governors in the UK to be effective young changemakers and policy influencers. Many student governors are elected or invited to take up a role that they are not prepared for or in some cases, fully understand. This can lead to a sense of uncertainty or isolation. Some students report a feeling of being overwhelmed by the responsibility of being a governor. The National Student Governor Training Programme seeks to address the various needs of Student Governors from across the UK but also celebrate the work that they do in their colleges and local communities.
