Join an exciting, fast-paced and growing social enterprise as one of our Programme Facilitators (Student Voice & Leadership Skills), based at our main office at Portsmouth College, Tangier Road, Portsmouth, PO3 6PZ. This role has responsibility for the project management, classroom delivery and digital delivery of various Unloc student voice and leadership programmes across the Solent and occasionally elsewhere in the UK.

Specific Responsibilities:
With support and oversight from the Operations Manager. Please note that many of the responsibilities outlined below may need to be carried out digitally/remotely as the organisation navigates through the current pandemic.
Organise, plan and facilitate inspiring student forums
- Organise, plan and facilitate inspiring student forums which include student ‘summits’ across the academic year. These ‘summits’ are whole-day events which are youth-led with over 50 young people representing a range of schools and colleges from across a community. Students share ideas and best practice, form action groups, hear from inspiring speakers, discuss issues that are important to them and work on joint campaigns. This involves liaising with key points of contact and managing attendance from multiple schools, colleges and partners.
Organise, plan and facilitate action group meetings
- Coordinate and facilitate young people’s action groups which arise out of the collaborative student summits, including recruiting volunteer mentors to help support and mentor those groups.
Organise, plan and facilitate end of year student voice celebration events
- Organise, plan and facilitate exciting young people’s’ celebration and sharing-of-good-practice events. These are whole-day events that bring together young people from across a community, in the presence of local political leaders, key community stakeholders, action group mentors and local authorities and celebrate student voice achievements.
Organise, plan and facilitate bespoke student voice programmes
- Organise, plan and facilitate bespoke student voice programmes for individual education trusts, schools and colleges. This will involve building programmes that meet the individual needs and priorities of the commissioning organisation.
Organise, plan and facilitate bespoke student leadership programmes

Create online courses
- Design and create new bespoke online courses for Unloc’s digital learning platform Unloc.online. Unloc.online is an interactive e-learning platform, providing a series of online short courses designed to encourage students aged 11-19 to explore entrepreneurship, employability, leadership and career pathways from the comfort of their own home.
Working with key partners
- Liaise and work in partnership with key programme sponsors, including involving them in event planning, inviting them to attend relevant events and providing them with programme updates. This will include businesses, Local Authorities, schools and community interest groups.
Providing regular updates to the Operations Manager
- Provide regular (written or verbal) updates to the Operations Manager on current progress and achievements of individual programmes you manage, this includes using and keeping the Unloc project management tracking software up-to-date .
Providing additional support and opportunities for students
- Providing support and additional opportunities for young people you work with where possible.
Supporting other Unloc projects and programmes
- Aiding other Unloc projects and programmes as and when required by the team (in consultation with your line manager).
Person Specification:
Qualifications
Essential:
- GCSE Maths and English at grade A*-C / 9-4 (or equivalent).
- Two A-Levels at grade A*-C (or equivalent).
Desirable:
- Level 2 ICT qualification.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent industry experience).
Experience and Knowledge
Essential:
- Previous work with young people.
- Previous experience of student voice and/or leadership positions (in some way).
Desirable:
- Previous knowledge of the education sector.
- Previous experience of stakeholder management.
Abilities and Skills
Essential:
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- High-level communication skills including written and verbal communication.
Desirable:
- High level of skill when using G Suite (formerly known as Google Apps for Work).
- Ability to maintain a professional online image including social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.
Other
Essential:
- Willingness to undertake staff training and development as required. This could include the opportunity to undertake a degree level apprenticeship.
- Willingness to travel across the Solent region on a semi-frequent basis and occasionally travel across the UK, including Unloc’s London and Cambridge hubs.
Desirable:
- A full UK driving licence.
