On Monday 21st November the CoPS executive members met at Portsmouth College for what was a very productive meeting. Portsmouth College Principal, Steve Frampton stopped by to offer his support to CoPS and to identify that they will also be assisting Steve with very important research aimed at improving learning within our schools and colleges.
The Execs (chosen leaders for the CoPS Forum) quickly got to work discussing the priority areas that the forum members chose in the first CoPS summit back in October which included:
- LGBTQ awareness
- young people’s mental health and
- life skills development.
The CoPS Executives also elected a further two members who will go on to join the Shaping Portsmouth Board. These members will attend monthly meetings and represent the views and opinions of all young people living in Portsmouth.
In January these two chosen members will be attending a celebration event – celebrating 15 years of youth voice in Portsmouth and the success it has had for the city, at the House of Commons in London. Accompanied by the Unloc team; prestigious guests and previous CoPS graduates the two current members will represent today’s youth voice in the city of Portsmouth.
Members of the executive group are currently busy working alongside action groups and organising the CoPS next summit in January which promises to be a day full of inspiring ideas and innovative youth voice!
