Here at Unloc we love enabling young people to thrive and providing them with opportunities that can not only help to promote themselves but also allow them to build character, independence and develop their skills set.
This summer we are teaming up with Pompey in the Community and NCS (National Citizens Service) to provide a unique opportunity for young people who have shown leadership potential to develop their skills even further and then showcase them in a social action project.
The programme takes place over the course of 4 weeks and gives students a chance to try new things, team build, identify new skills and meet new friends. Below is how the events unfold across the course of 4 weeks.
What does Unloc’s NCS Leadership Camp look like at a glance?
Week 1 – Adventure: Students attend a specialist activity center for a week of activities such as; kayaking, canoeing, raft building, archery, climbing, zip wire and abseiling and over team building exercises.
Week 2 – Trying Something New: This week is aimed at allowing young people to gain valuable life skills, increase their independence and boost their employability skills.
Week 3 & 4 – Make your mark: This will be when the students are able to ‘give back’ to their community using the skills they have developed in the previous weeks. As a team they will research, plan, fundraise and carry out their social action project right here in Portsmouth.
This is a unique and great opportunity for young people in year 11 and AS year of college. If you’re a student, you can find out more and book a place at ncs.unloc.org.uk.
