The Unloc team recently welcomed Ruth Whiteley (who starred as a contestant on the most recent series of The Apprentice) to Portsmouth College for a fun and interactive workshop with our Enterprise Academy students.
Ruth gave the students some insight into what it was really like taking part in The Apprentice’ process having been ‘fired’ in Week 4 of the show as well as some of her top tips for success in life. Ruth then went on to issue a special enterprise challenge to the students – giving them 15 minutes to develop an entrepreneurial solution to any problem they face in the college environment.
Students came up with some incredibly innovative ideas including the ‘DIY Deli Bar’ and a student-led revision app. The two winning teams are due to be invited for a special working-lunch to further develop their ideas to make them a reality.
“It’s been fabulous being here with the students. They’ve shown serious commitment to the idea of enterprise and it’s really positive to see the college’s commitment as well.”
Portsmouth College Student Lewis Hayes added:
“It was really good to hear directly from Ruth about her experiences both on The Apprentice and in her business life. I’m looking forward to how we move forward with the different ideas we came up with.”
